About the Role
We are a U.S.-based, product driven company seeking a highly organized, detail oriented, and creatively fluent Product Merchandiser Assistant to support our Director of Product Development and Creative Director.
This is not a traditional administrative role. This position is designed for someone who enjoys being close to the creative process while also managing the operational details that keep product development moving forward. You will help support the full lifecycle of product development from concept and sampling through sourcing and preparation for purchase orders.
This role is approximately 20 to 25 hours per week with a hybrid schedule. Some time will be in office in Bergen County, New Jersey, with flexibility to work remotely. This role can be structured as a contractor or part time employee and has the potential to grow into a full time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Creative and Product Support
- Assist with product development presentations, pitch decks, and internal materials
- Help organize and maintain material libraries including fabrics, trims, finishes, and color references
- Support consistency in product aesthetics, branding, and presentation
- Research trends, materials, and product innovations to support new development
- Sampling and Vendor Coordination
- Track product samples from request through approval
- Coordinate sample shipments, revisions, and feedback
- Communicate with overseas manufacturers primarily in Asia and Europe
- Organize vendor quotes, pricing, and documentation
- Assist with tracking international shipments and timelines
- Support documentation related to importing, landed costs, and compliance
- Help maintain accurate records for product development, costing, and sourcing
- Support internal workflows and ensure details are organized and up to date
- Project Tracking and Organization
- Update and manage product development tracking tools such as Microsoft Lists or Excel
- Help prepare for meetings, reviews, and product checkpoints
- Ensure follow up items and next steps are clearly documented
Qualifications
- 1+ year experience in product development, sourcing, operations, or a creative or manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working with both visual tools (Canva) and spreadsheets + Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator is a plus
- Experience with project management platforms Microsoft Lists, Planner or Notion based tools
- Exposure to overseas manufacturing or importing is a plus
- Ability to work partially in office in Bergen County, NJ
